Hey . . . is this the Mint Cafe or the Mint Pub ?? :P

There is a popular 'country-western' song on the radio.

Song: Pretty Good at Drinking Beer
Artist: Billy Currington

I aint much for mowin thick grass
I'm too slow for workin' too fast
I don't do Windows ... so honey don't ask
But I'm pretty good at drinkin' beer

Please, no more talk about Root Beer.

Since McD's stopped doing it (late 80's I think) it's been nigh on impossible to get it in the UK.
It can be got on ebay but it's shockingly expensive!

I love the stuff too! :(

I get sioux city sarsaparillas from a local health food store, made with cane sugar. Delicious.

Leaving this here...

I remember that picture! Now who was that jolly fellow??

Speaking of remembering... I remember when I used come to the Mint forum and hit "view new posts". If I did that today, I'd be overwhelmed! Times sure have changed.

My first Mint install was "Beatrice", I had just missed "Ada". I think I've had all the other Mint girls. :D

There are still a few of us '06ers around. :)

@Kenetics
Nice to hear from an old time friend :)
I started with Bea too. Nice looking girl she was.
I tried every Mint broad meself, and I'm glad I missed Katrina

They all had a touch of Irish and some spice of French. :)

Cheers,

Thank you! Oh it's a long sorry story, lol, but suffice it to say that life is still splendid despite alot of huge changes in the past few months... but I still have all the things that really matter: Family, friends, school, church, dance class, and of course, having Linux Mint! Xfce works awesomely on an old hand-me-down laptop.

Maybe I should have said sarsaparilla instead of root beer? I had no idea it was so rare in the UK! Maybe someone could start an export thing to offset the shortage. Best served with sweet vanilla ice cream!

Wow, thanks! I've missed being online as much as I used to be. Long story, but I'll sum up in just a few words: Medical issues, loss of income, sale of possessions, homelessness, living in a truck and hiding it from all the kids at school, finding safe shelter, trying to keep from being taken from my parents and put in foster care (I think I'm old enough to avoid it)... but it hasn't all been bad! Good stuff too: New friendships, newfound gratitude for little things I used to take for granted, new compassion for those "bums" with the cardboard signs begging at intersections. The gift of a new (to me) laptop so I can still do schoolwork and all the dance stuff I need a 'puter for... (sold my desktops to help the family). New hope for getting out of this homelessness after graduation, teaching dance! But best of all, new peace even in this stormy time, because of newfound faith in God. My future is bright now, no matter what happens on the outside! On the inside, I feel safer, more at peace, more grateful, more compassionate, and more hopeful than ever. My parents think I'm crazy, but I think my joy is rubbing off anyway. I hope they'll come to know my Savior soon too.

Wow, I didn't mean to write a whole book there, lol. It was supposed to be a summary! My access to the 'net is still pretty random (whenever I can find a spot that is safe and offers free WiFi access), but I always stop here whenever I can get online. It's great to see how active the Mint forums have gotten!

:D Thanks for the warm greetings. I hope to be more active here too once I have a "real" home (hopefully with my own bedroom! oh, sweet privacy!) and "real" internet access. In the meantime my visits will be kinda random and maybe rare because life is kinda complicated for the time being.

Hugs (and a toast with my frosty mug of sarsaparilla),
Robin

Hello Robin,

Though I don't know who you are, or how old you really are, I admire your attitude. I want to congratulate you for your wisdom and your courage.
We all should be grateful for the hope that you inspire to all of us grown-ups in these harsh times.

No situation is really permanent. Life has its ups and downs and just when one thinks that there is no way out, some divine force
intervenes.
I am sure that, very soon, you will be given another chance; your faith in God will be rewarded.

And do keep in touch. We will be here, waiting to hear that you and your family are back to a normal life.

My heart-felt wishes to you and your family.
Cheers,
npap
