I'm somewhat of a power user, so I've made visible levels 4 and 5. When that level 3 HAL update came out, there was also a level 4 HAL update. I installed everything.

Is it possible installing the level 3 update without the level 4 update is causing the problem?

feature requests

Postby nametaken on Sun Oct 14, 2007 12:27 pm

MintUpdate 1.4 is working fine for me. I was just wondering, could the auto-refresh preference allow more options for refresh times? I'd rather have it refresh once a day than once an hour.

Also, I'm currently running a couple users on my system, and I noticed that mintUpdate only loads up for the first user. Sometimes the first user I log in to doesn't have sudo powers. So, would it be possible to have mintUpdate only load up for users with sudo privileges?

As far as I can see, those were the same. This update came out on Wednesday or Thursday, if I remember well, and was classified as "4" and changed to "3" yesterday. So I thought "well, it seems to be alright now, lets install".

No, they were two separate upgrades, one 3 and one 4, that I installed the other day.

Anyway, what I've installed was the one with a "3".

So far there seems to be nobody able to help me with it. Isn't there a possibility to remove that last installed package and reconstruct the old structure?

Or is the only thing I can do a new installation?

Something wrong about how it handdles the repositories

Postby Jose on Sun Oct 14, 2007 8:54 pm

Hi Clem,
I realized that if one of the repositories in our list of repositories is down, MintUpdate will give an error (a broken lock).
That is nice, however will not even show the packages from the repositories that are working well.
When the mouse is put over the broken lock, a message appears that could not connect with the repositories (or something like that).

I opened synaptic, I made a refresh repositories, and I realized that one of my repositories was not working. I took it away and after doing that Mintupdate could refresh well.
Hope there is a way to allow mintUpdate to display about the failed repositories, but continue giving the list of updates for the repositories that are working.

Thanks again,
Jose

As an experiment (we're thinking of using launchpad for Linux Mint bug tracking, translations and blueprints) mintUpdate has been added to Launchpad:

https://launchpad.net/mintUpdate

Hoppel, Husse and Jose: I've submitted bugs for the problems you mentioned.

Merlwiz: I made a blueprint for your idea about the icons.

And I've also uploaded the po file to allow people to help translating mintUpdate... it should become available soon. So far mintUpdate is supporting English and French. If you can translate it in other languages please do so.

Husse: Will you translate it to swedish? I'm also from Sweden if you don't have the time.

Translation in launchpad not permitted

Postby Jose on Mon Oct 15, 2007 12:20 pm

Hi Clem,
I went to https://launchpad.net/mintUpdate , to try to start translating it to Spanish, but it gives the following message:

"The mintUpdate product is not set up for translation in Launchpad"

Thanks

Hi Jose,

The messages.po was uploaded (the file to translate) but it needs to be approved by a launchpad admin before you can start translating it..

Ummm... is Mint Update even compatible with Edgy? I thought it was for Feisty (Celena & Cassandra)?

hoppel, what OS are you running?
