My name is David, running Mint 9, Gnome on a Gateway SX2800 mini-desktop.
I took my first computer course back in summer '65 and had been involved with mini's or PC's in one way or another until '01 when I retired. Our first home computer was a VIC-20. At the moment we have 5 computers in the house, 4 in active use. My wife's notebook runs Vista - ugh. My ham radio computer is a netbook running Win 7. An eeePC running Puppeee 4.4RC-2 is my travel machine. I don't use the Radio Shack mod 102 very much anymore.
I had been using Ubuntu since Warty but dropped it in '09 when I got this Win7 box - yes, its that good.
I gave WUBI a whirl last year but dumped it because it was buggy - installed Ubuntu 10.04 and dumped it too - Ubuntu seems to be headed in the wrong direction for my needs. Gave Open SUSE 11.3 a whirl for a few days - it doesn't run the way I "think". I've heard so much good about Mint that I had to give it a try. Just about everything I want to do worked 'out of the box' -- a big plus.
