Re: Live-cd installation halts
Did you check the md5sum? Did you burn the dvd very very slowly on your burner? Is your dvd media RW....that causes troubles for some installations
Re: Live-cd installation halts
Have not checked. It is a DVD+RW. So i t can be the dvd who is the problem then.
Have burned the dvd in 4x at the highest.

Re: Live-cd installation halts
I had the same problem untill I realised that I had the "older" iso version. The first iso which came out in December was the version number 201012, the newest version carries the number 201101.
You should also check the md5sum as malligt suggested. It should correspond to this number: daeabb182b016cd62bfced5483441b5a

Re: Live-cd installation halts
It is probably the wrong DVD.
All the mirror for 64-bit is has the old version.
The 32-bit mirrors has the right version.
But I want the 64-bit.

Re: Live-cd installation halts
There is only one for the 64bit.
Your dmesg file tells the story . .
so it may be a bad burn, or a bad download iso file, resulting in an incorrect md5 checksum . . .
Here is a members tutorial on how to do the md5 check : http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/346
and I suggest you read this too : http://linuxmint.com/rel_debian.php
good luck

Re: Live-cd installation halts
The dmesg file comes from the computer I try to install on.
I have burned the dvd on another computer.
The md5sum I get is: 1284feca2dff0ec76c6be6825a71f9b7
And the md5sum on the download page: 1284feca2dff0ec76c6be6825a71f9b7
I have installed debian on mu laptop with a usb-memory without problem.
I hate cd/dvd:s

Re: Live-cd installation halts
I know I have a flaky dvd-rw drive (LG) which does fine with CD's but only sometimes works with DVD's. After I figured out my issue was probably the drive, I found an external usb dvd-rw to use for writing and sometimes reading DVD's. The /dev/sr0 is the physical drive, which may or may not reflect issues with the media in the drive. The external drive I got is an ASUS at only 8x but the price was right, and it works pretty well. So I'd suspect your issues may be a flaky drive, as well.
Re: Live-cd installation halts
I have thought of it aswell.
I have burned a new copy to DVD+R. I hope it will work now.
I don't have antother dvd player/burner and can't afford one right now.
*EDIT*
It was the dvd-player who was broken.
