Hi,
I am from Indonesia, and I am a person who always want to learn something new and useful, but also not too time- and dedication-consuming (I also have to live;-) ).
I downloaded Mint 10 iso two days ago, eagerly anticipating all the good news I've heard in the internet, and installed it yesterday. Now I haven't been following almost all that happened in Linux world for some time before that. I left Linux because of the clumsiness Mandrake and Kubuntu had in handling my hardwares and codecs needed to play my audio and video files.
All this was easily tackled down by Mint I installed. It really works for all my documents and files, out of the box.
Yes, I think Mint is the best distro these days for everybody new to Linux, and as such, everybody who's been putting their energy to the effort towards creating, maintaining, and improving Mint is commendable for their work.
I have tried several other distros before; Mandrake, Mepis, Kubuntu, and Maemo. The longest I used was Mandrake (long before it became Mandriva; CDs were still the common installer media, and Mandrake is on 4 of them) and now I am using Maemo (I am writing this post from Nokia's N900). I have to say that distros today, and Mint in particular, have gone leaps and bounds in taming the fear of and familiarizing people with life outside their windows, if you know what I mean.
Regards,
Andre
