Enlightenment E16 or E17.

I've just installed LMDE-64.
One thing I've wanted to do is play with enlightenment.

I see e16 is in the debian repositories and e17 is not.
Is there that much of a difference between e16 and e17 that I should make the effort to get e17?

If so is there a repository out there with e17 for debian/amd64 on it?

As I recall, E16 is quite a bit different from E17. I do have E17 currently installed, but it's in PCLinuxOS.

Looks like E17 is in sid:

I don't know if that helps you with getting it in LMDE, though.

Do not try E16. It 's not worth the trouble. E17 is in unstable and will eventually hit wheezy some day. Speaking for myself, i have installed it by following utsuwa's tip:

I tried it with Crunchbang 10 Startler alpha 2 (which is based on debian). Works great, no problems so far.

It is better than compiling it yourself.
