Hi everyone,
In the System Monitor menu i can change i can right click and change priority/nice value. I always do this to play the Java based game Minecraft. I will just give it a -20 value so it runs the best since i don't multi task while playing. However it is a PITA to have to go into that menu every time. Is there any way i can make sure that the priority value is -20 for Java/Minecraft permanently? If so.. how?
Thanks!

Re: System Monitor: How to make priority / Nice permanent?
Hi,
Sorry but I just now read this message.
Only the root can reduce the nice value of a running process (such as from 10 to 9 or from 3 to -2). All other users can only increase the nice value.
In addition to nice, you can also use the renice command to change the nice value of a running process without restarting it.
You need the PID, and in a terminal:
# renice -10 1712
1712 the process PID
