I also love how many of the really cool photoshop brushes and styles are also available for GIMP.

What makes you think that?grizwald wrote:From some of the responses one would think using GIMP was about to become illegal.

Pinta is sorely hurting when it comes to selecting a section of an image and there seem no way to select one part and add another part to the selection or to invert your selection.konjad wrote:Pinta for CD version to save up some space and both Pinta and GIMP for DVD version to have lightweight and easy tool as well as more professional for advanced editing.

How can Pinta be a "perfect replacement for gimp" when you can not select the areas you want to work on?bwat47 wrote:Pinta would be the perfect replacement for gimp. its more user friendly and most users don't need gimps more advanced features. I am suprised I haven't seen any distros using this excellent program as default.

abr2gbr is a tool for converting Adobe PhotoShop ABR and Corel Paint Shop Pro
JBR brush files to the GIMP GBR format.

I would use GMIP to create the brush I want.dawgdoc wrote:Indigo_myst wrote:I also love how many of the really cool photoshop brushes and styles are also available for GIMP.

Want to do simple things like croping and adding colors. And it's quite confusing to open up what seems to be a simple application to find that it's like Photoshop. Beshides I think that anyone that has a need for GIMP would probally know about it anyway and could install it themselves. Of course I'm not thinking of you more advanced users, that like having this installed by default but I think since this is sopused to be for user frendliness.

You overlook one small problem. Many adult people learned to use other software and to learn a different interface. To learn GIMP they have to unlearn the old way of doing things. I use GIMP and I am of the older generation (maybe not as adult as I should beFoxy14Girl wrote:onlytheFBI wrote:Hey Guys,I just had a great idea I think. simpler program..... man, is it that hard to take some time to sit down and get to know how to use GIMP ?i am 14 yrs. old and i use GIMP with no problems.
as i said before GIMP rocks. i looked at ms paint and it is ok.
but if a child can use GIMP, then adults should have no problem with it
