How to make a multi iso dvd????

Postby ibm450 on Sun Mar 27, 2011 7:22 am

just a thought, why not release a custom DVD that contains possibly all of the mint distros on one dvd that a new user could test.

i remember seeing a ubuntu magazine that had about 4 different flavors of ubuntu (kubuntu, ubuntu, netbook edition, xbuntu....) that you can try off from the dvd menu (custom grub???)

if it is possible, could some one guide me on how to make such a dvd so i can boot up various flavours of remastersys iso's off one dvd to trial out on new user pc / laptops?

or even on a large pen drive....

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Install Multisystem (http://liveusb.info/dotclear/ ). This will let you install as many versions of Linux as a flash drive will hold. It uses a modified Grub (or you can install Burg) to select the OS to boot.

Also, the drives are not written to permanently. You can rewrite them as often as you like.

Why would you want to do that, there is only ONE Linux. And that IS Mint. :lol:

This is probably a "tongue in cheek" statement but seriously, the idea makes sense to me. How can one make up his mind about which MINT distro to choose (KDE, Xfce, Fluxbox, LXDE, LMDE...) except burning several iso's and boot them up. I think it would be very convenient to have them all in one convenient place if we are to shop around and take a knowledgeable pick.

@Aging Technogeek
cheers for the info , will look into it...

@900i
true, but unfortunately not all flavors of mint or various linux re-spins work on certain laptops and pc's.

lm10kde and opensuse 11.4 works great and flawless on my asus ul50vt, but unfortunately lm10 kde just runs and opensuse 11.4 completely fails on my friend dell dual core laptop....

besides, i rather have a dvd full of iso's to trial opposed to carrying a wallet of cd / dvd's...
