Keyboard Keeps Pressing "f" Key On Its Own...

Postby Gunmetal_Ghoul on Thu Mar 31, 2011 9:41 pm

The strangest thing I've ever seen in computing--the computer keeps on pressing the "f" key, even when I detach the keyboard on Mint 10 LXDE. Whenever I try to open up something where it requires keyboard input, the "f" key infinitely presses. I couldn't even get the installer going until I decided to swap the hard drive into another computer and install it from there. It's probably the computer since I used two different PS/2 keyboards with the same outcome and it only installed without any hassles when I swapped it out. I'm going to try using a USB keyboard, but I think something could be also wrong with that key. I'll have to swap it out and check to see if it's faulty. What do you think?

It could be either a bug in the driver that has to do with PS/2 for the offending computer's board or damaged or worn out hardware??? In either case you might look into maybe since you're planning on using a USB keyboard blacklisting the PS/2 driver if you can(idk?)

You can blacklist the module, but you need to type some things and Linux may not like 'ffffffffffffffffffff' in the /etc/modprobe.d files or Grub.
