<Crtl> <D> required to contiue boot process

Post by technoshaun »

My on board network card in my laptop took a major dive and I had to remove and replace it with a USB WiFi device. However, when it went out it caused a problem in the start up and I'm getting prompted with entering the Root password to perform maintenance or <Ctrl> <D> to continue booting. Plymouth will not load at all. Does anybody know where I can look to fix this? I'm sure a reinstall would fix it but I would prefer to not use that option unless all else fails.

No I wish it was only that simple. This prompt comes up just before GDM is called to load so I'm assuming its something in the X-windows start up routine that somehow got flagged.
