Intel HDA sound chip - NO SOUND

Post by bwg »

I just installed Daryna on a Acer Aspire 3680. Usually my problems involve madwifi drivers but in this case my wireless network works like a charm, but I have no sound whatsoever.
With other distros the problem is reversed. Freespire seems to have the best sound on my machine, with PCLOS the sound is not as good as Freespire.
I like everything else with Daryna very much, enough to try to resolve this problem and get the whole system running.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Revised--

Post by bwg »

This is a revision of my original post.
I reinstalled Daryna after trying everything I could think of to get sound and now I have sound from the headphones but not the speaker.

Here is my question.
Since I am presently dual booting with Freespire (in which sound works well) is there a way I could compare files with Freespire and Daryna and maybe the difference will be the reason I can't hear sound on Daryna.

If I can compare files, does anyone know which files they are.
Tks
