Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Until it doesn't work anymore. :P

However, the regular versions of LinuxMint are supported for 18 months and the LTS versions for 3 years.

Mint-10 is a regular version > so it should be good to go, for at least, another year.
After which time it will still work, it just won't receive any new updates.

There are still people using Mint-5 and Mint-7 with success. They see no reason to change or upgrade -- yet.

As long as, it's not broken ... don't fix it.

Just curious...though at that point you would no longer get updates from mint and ubuntu...would your ppa's still bring in updates? (like a Chrome PPA from google or a Pidgin update from it's PPA, etc)....you know, any programs you set up seperate ppas for...

Thanx vrkalak for your excellent answer but craig10x does have an interesting sub question about PPA and your personal programs.

about the PPA's it will all depend on the maintainers: atm for example the Pidgin PPA has pkgs for lucid (Mint9 - LTS), maverick (Mint10) and the upcoming natty (Mint11)
