Dual Monitor support
Can someone point me to an article or a forum link to show me how to set up dual monitors? Both monitors are working, but are showing the same image.

Re: Dual Monitor support
What type of video card do you have? Typically all you need to do is open 'monitors' and uncheck the box that says 'mirror screens' or something like that. I use two monitors all the time.
Re: Dual Monitor support
Below is the output for 'lspci' for the video card.
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV370 5B60 [Radeon X300 (PCIE)]
01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV370 [Radeon X300SE]
I have seen screenshots where this checkbox is present, but in my Settings menu under Displays I do not have that checkbox. Should I be looking elsewhere for Monitors?

Re: Dual Monitor support
I am hoping to move from Ubuntu to LMDE as I cannot stand Unity. Ubuntu works fine with dual monitors if I set the refresh rate to 75hz for both monitors. I have no idea why that makes a difference. I'm hoping a config file is changed when that setting is updated on Ubuntu, and then I can look at it and see what to change on LMDE. I was running this last night from a USB drive, does anyone know if a file is updated when you change the default settings?
Re: Dual Monitor support
Can anyone help with this? If I cannot get this working I will have to move back to Ubuntu, and I would rather not do that.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Dual Monitor support
Have you installed the ATI drivers?

Re: Dual Monitor support
Supper for my video card with that driver ended in February of 2009.
Re: Dual Monitor support
This thread just confirms what you already know:

If it worked in a recent Ubuntu it may work I Mint 9/10/11 (Ubuntu based).

Re: Dual Monitor support
I was hoping to use a Debian based distro. Since I cannot get this working now, I have gone back to Ubuntu for the time being.
Thanks

Re: Dual Monitor support
I've only configured dual monitors on intel and nvidia graphics. You may need to install the proprietary ATI driver. See the following article on the Debian Wiki
http://wiki.debian.org/ATIProprietary
You will need the older version of the driver, which can be found in the Lenny repositories. "Catalyst 8.12 (fglrx 8.561)"
If you go this route, I recommend downloading the files from packages.debian.org rather than adding the lenny repository.

Hope this helps you get started in the right direction.

Re: Dual Monitor support
Would getting a new Nvidia video card help? Is there an open source driver that will be around longer than the proprietary drivers?
Re: Dual Monitor support
wont recommend you for any graphics card but my Laptop has NVIDEA graphic card which installs a NVIDEA application in LM through which i can successfully configure my 2nd screen.
