mint 11

Post by ukstar »

Can I just say this. I haven't used Mint since version 6, but have just installed 11 beta 64bit and it is totally amazing. Everything works, had to fiddle about with my Epson SZ215 but works OK now. Installed Vuze and have just watched a couple of movies that were on my Windows7 drive. Because there is no burning facility with the Linux version, what is the best way of doing this. OK question should be somewhere else, but still amazed with Mint 11. I also use Opera mainly and with their synchronise option I still have everything that I had on Windows.

What exactly do you mean by burning facility? There are many many burning and ripping programs to choose from. tell me what you want to do and I can tell you a few programs that will do it for you.

I can recommend the K3B program (from Software Manager) for burning CD's and DVD's.

I usually use whatever the CD/DVD writer program is supplied (Brasero in Gnome), or xfburn, that I usually have to install: it uses a different library,, so if Brasero has a problem or vice-versa the other CD/DVD writer program may work..
--it's good to have a choice

However, if you mean encoding a file, such as a downloaded movie to a DVD, then there are programs available to handle such encoding

k3b is great (even though a kde program...i think it is better then brasero) extremely reliable and easy to use :D
And it does copy encoded (copyguard) dvds (removes it and copies it with out it)...burns isos and data discs great too..never had a "coaster" using it...

Just a new new newbie to Mint
now enjoying LinuxMint 10 KDE and thanks to the team.
I would like to ask when will we gonna have Linux Mint 11 KDE.
Love this KDE version over Gnome.
I need to ask about download manager as well.
How can I set proxy server there?
