Tomorrow I'm off for a drink with a couple of my mates.

Drink: Guinness with a drop of blackcurrant.
Location: O'Neill's @ Soho, London.

Despite its Irish thematics it is somehow mostly populated by Spaniards. And Norwegians. And Poles. About two Brits. But no Irish lol

That's why I love going there, cos it's so multi-culti

Got to say, I'm with 'The Wizard' here. It's my Old Pa's birthday tomorrow, so I reckon that a couple of pints of the local brew - BOB (brewed by the Wickwar Brewing Company). Cracking pints, goes down lovely and smooth. :D

I used to LOVE a beer called terrible. Its a flavored beer, like a really rich 'old fashioned' rootbreer, or the kind you get in the really high end health food stores, only 11% alcohol. Its the kind of beer you can sip like brandy wine, but it has a bit of lager bite though its primarily an dark ale.

Scaldies Noel, 2008/9 was amazing.

Fat Tire makes the best liquor store grade beers. They are run by Anarchists and are a sustainable wind powered plant and a worker owned collective. They did partner up with a crappy mega company to distribute, but they are still a worker owned collective.

Allagash is also one of my favorites.

Unfortunately since we identified a gluten intolerance as something that aggravates my underlying health conditions, beer is out of the question. Just weed and opiates for me (prescription, for both'.

Support your local craft brewery or brewpub. Of the 1759 breweries in the US, 1716 are craft breweries - the only segment of the beer industry that is growing. Some favorites of mine are Victory Brewing Golden Monkey and Cigar City Jai alai.

BTW, the Mint Lounge has free beer all the time!

a few Belgium Blue Moons for gaining FAA certification as a Senior Parachute Rigger.

Anybody want to trust their Reserve/Emergency parachute, and their life, to my newly certified skills? I promise to wait at least 8 hours after drinking before packing.

More than beer today am afraid. Some of the stuff I've imbibed there probably isn't a legal name for. But I'm ok with that ... not caring if anyone else is ok with that o course. :D

Thought U2 songs ( with or w/o you seem widely acceptable at this stage of the game. However U2 is always widely acceptable regardless of the stage o the game. Even if many o their songs are for politically correct sissies. ) :D

Re: Beer today ?????

Postby Bob E on Thu Jun 30, 2011 8:47 pm

Many years ago, I spent 3 years in Germany, and discovered what beer was really supposed to taste like. My favorite German beer was Henninger. Some gasthauses had Guinness Stout on tap, the purest form of liquid happiness, and I found out that real Heineken is not green. When I got back to the States, I bought a 6 pack of Bud. After two sips, I poured it out and gave the rest away. I haven't had a beer since.

If I was back in Europe, I would definitely be sitting down to a glass of Guinness right now! So, next time one of you folks have a round, drink one for me.

Cheers!
