Playing newer DVDs

Post by vinoman »

Yesterday I bought a copy of the new Disney movie Ratatouille. I put it in my other PC which is running Ubuntu 7.10 and it said it did not have plugins, but didn't say which ones. I have libdvdcss2 and w32codecs installed on Ubuntu and other DVDs work fine. So I tried the DVD out in my other PC running Mint 3.1 and it played just fine :)

I eventually was able to play that DVD in Ubuntu using VLC and playing with the settings.

What plugins does Mint have that Ubuntu does not?

A lot
We have a lot of codecs by default, but I can't tell you which one was used here (without a bit of work)
