Hello:
In the other flavours of Xfce I have (aptosid, archlinux) there is a menu option where I can allow root logins to desktop (please don't lecture me about how unsafe is that), but I can't find it anywhere in Mint. Can I do it via the console, editing some file?
There is a "login screen settings" in the menu, but when I click on it, a window pops up with all the options greyed out except the "close" icon and another icon resembling a padlock that says "click to make changes", but when I click on it, nothing happens. When hovering the mouse over the padlock, I get a popup tooltip saying "authentication is needed to make changes". But that information seems to be to no avail, because there's no information about how to make that needed authentication. Clicking on the padlock, I repeat, doesn't work.
Any suggestions to all this?
Thank you.
[Edit]
As to how to login as root in an Xfce session, I finally found out howto. Here's a link to my website where I explain it:

However, I still don't know if there's a way of doing it in gui.
As to the login screen settings, it seems to be a bug. There's another post in these forums reporting it.
