Hi, I am using LMDE with satisfaction, just a little/big issue, about the fonts, sometime they are dirty, there is something I do not understand, even changing the fonts into the preferences panel.
The dirty it is not the same, sometimes is one letter, sometimes an other one..
Herewith you'll find an attachment about CALIBRE but this happens on Firefox too.
In this case the dirty letter is the "S"
Anyone could help me how to fix it?
Thanks a lot
Mariner

Re: LMDE fonts bad visualization
It looks like something is wrong with the "s" glyph in the non-bold version of your font. Which font is that, FreeSans? The font file might be corrupt, so try removing and reinstalling the relevant font package. (I think it's called "freefonts" or something.) Maybe try Liberation Sans, too.
Other than the broken "s", your fonts look very good in that screenshot. Firefox, on the other hand, looks horrible on LMDE.

Hi kijin,
thanks for your kind reply.
Actually in that snapshot was the S as you noticed, but everytime it is different, sometimes is the "l" that looks like an upside down "i", and sometimes it happens with Firefox too, it seems like it's not related to a specific letter.. or a specific font.
I triyed to change, freesans, sans, dingbats, ubuntu, but this trouble is tricky, it happens sometimes, and sometimes not.
Look at this new snapshot for instance.. except for the k maybe, everything is fine.
By the way, do you know the better way to reinstall the font package? I wouldn't make mistakes.
Thanks a lot

Re: LMDE fonts bad visualization
You can reinstall any package by doing
An easy way to find a package's exact name is to search it in Synaptic Package Manager.
But if the same problem happens in a lot of fonts, reinstalling specific fonts would not help. Something else must be wrong... Let's hope somebody more knowledgeable can help you with this.
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install --reinstall <package-name>

Re: LMDE fonts bad visualization
IT COULD BE CALIBRE or qBittorrent!
I just noticed this trouble anytime I was using or I used in the same session these pieces of software.
It could be.. related, who knows?
Hope somebody will help me.
Thanks

Re: LMDE fonts bad visualization
Hi, perhaps this trouble was caused by Firefox,
in the sense that disabling the browser option "allow website to replace with their own fonts"
everything so far look stable and clean.
So maybe that was why... so maybe this could be considered solved.
Thanks anyway.
