I'm trying to install Gramps in LMDE too; using Package Manager, I get an error message
W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/ ... -1_all.deb
404 Not Found [IP: 130.89.149.226 80]
plus 8 more all failing to fetch graphviz files from http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g and two iceweasel files from http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/i. I'm not computer-savvy enough to sort, help please!
I'm trying to migrate from Mint 10, and getting a few glitches. Gramps downloads and works fine in M10.
Separately but help appreciated: I've got Google Earth working, but with a black screen instead of a map. Everything else seems right including ruler etc! I've tried the steps in the LMDE/GoogleEarth threads but no joy.
I'm fairly competent, but LMDE is a step further for me!

Re: Package won't install -Gramps
I feel a bit foolish! Solved both problems by
firstly, unchecking repositories http://ftp.debian.org debian/pool/non-freedebian and http://ftp.debian.org debian/pool/non-freedebian (source code)
secondly, reloading
thirdly, installing nvidia-glx-ia32
at this stage GoogleEarth's world view worked perfectly!
fourthly, installing Gramps
which worked perfectly!
Don't really know why it suddenly worked but perhaps this helps others?
