distorted sound on certain video sites (except youtube)

Hi
I get distorted sound on certain video sites like SpanishPod101.com (except youtube) and on play command in console when trying to listen to mp3 files.
what went wrong?

Possibly the clipping level (usually maxed) for the source material..

You could also try some other sound applications or utilities, such as..

Thanks for trying to help but I don't want to do a research if I may.
I only want a simple fix to a simple problem (at least I hope) because it used to work seamlessly not so long ago.

Not so elegant solution, but now it works!
