Canon Pixma MP260 Not Printing

Postby Fiver on Sun Jun 26, 2011 1:44 pm

Can anyone please help me. I have a Canon Pixma MP260 and it simply will not print no matter what I do. I have tried the Canon website but it is about the only printer they do not provide a Linux driver for and no other driver seems to work. Print jobs seem to go through on screen without error but the printer does not do anything. The scanner works fine through SANE, however.

Hi Fiver and Welcome to Linux Mint forum.

I've searched around quite a bit (even at the Canon Europe site) on the web, but I haven't been able to come up with any Linux printer drivers for your printer, other than the ones at TurboPrint. I believe they let you download a trial version (to test the device) that can then later be made permanent by purchasing a key. For some users printers this may be the only way.

Personally I feel that printers are cheap enough nowadays, that replacing them is a viable alternative. Its the ink that is the killer, but there are less expensive ways around that as well in most cases. However, this is up to you.

Maybe someone else can find a better solution I hope.

Regards,

S :)
