MOUNTING PROBLEM for 3 TB WD EXT HDD for mint 8

Postby Calmy2008 on Fri Jun 24, 2011 6:08 pm

Hello. I have some problem with my external hard drive. When I am connecting it to my netbook an error appears:
Code: Select all
Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 32: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
       dmesg | tail  or so

So i typed dmesg | tail and got a message:
Code: Select all
vesel4ak@vesel4ak-laptop ~ $ dmesg | tail
[10128.502986] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] 732558336 4096-byte logical blocks: (3.00 TB/2.72 TiB)

Some guy told me that i should make 2 partitishions. All partitishions size must be smaller than 2Tb.
I tried, and it helped. BUT i need one partitishion in 3 Tb!!! 1 more thing: Also i am using this hard drive in windows(NTFS)!
Can someone help me?
P.S. Sorry for my english. I`am ukrainian teenager.Try to write here as easy as possible. thnks.

Already checked by chkdsk due fat table problems/errors
One more thing: I installed mint 11 live cd and connected the Hard drive. All worked fine. But in mit8 doesnt works.

Mint 8 is no longer supported, you should consider updating to Mint 9 LTS, 10 or 11.
