LDME XFCE 4.8 with slight modifications. I also made the desktop art my boot and login screen!

The icons come from apwal launcher. They appear some seconds only, by clicking on the grey arrow.

On the top right is trayer which replaces the notification zone.

Another view, with Orta-theme, Humanity and Ubuntu-Mono-Dark icons

Image

The script used to invoke trayer is:

Code: Select all
#!/bin/bash

cd /home/roger/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts
trayer --SetDockType true --widthtype request --heighttype pixel --height 21 --edge top --align right --alpha 128 --transparent true --margin 0 &

alpha can go from 0 to 255 and varies transparency. This script is placed in the nautilus-scripts folder. I launch script at start-up. Note that you can use trayer only if you do not use the notification zone applet. It's one OR the other.

My current setup. Gotta fix the menu logo and a couple of other things, but other than that I'm pretty happy with the default theme (which ironically was pretty much the look I was after when I was using Ubuntu/Kubuntu :P ).

Loving LMDE so far. I'm tracking Sid, and aside from PulseAudio (which I've sent to the scrapheap, it's not the first time I've run into problems with it...) it's going well.

Note from the Forum Staff:

Please continue to use clickable-thumbnails linking to the larger image -- to help those with slower connections.

An example of the BBC code needed is below. Most image hosting sites will automatically generate 'clickable-thumbnails' for you, as well.

Code: Select all

Thanks you for your continued support of LinuxMint.

I done playing now. I toned down my desktop, it was getting too buzy. I normally don't work that way. Just Compiz and Metacity. as far as the tastbar/panel match, I just croped a screenshot of a window and made a 2 inch png of the title bar, for a background image.

Rainlendar2 Lite with the 949__Statica__Weather.r2skin skin for the clock and calendar. I was too lazy to use conky and this has a GUI for some of the settings. I had to use the file extractor and gedit to set some of the spacing in the XML's to get it to look right in english.

Let myself keep one toy and as you can see it's Cairo Dock.

I had to express my appreciation for LMDE somewhere. It's great. It flies. It does have some known bugs, but as long as they don't slavishly follow Ubuntu's evolutionary brick wall, then I'm happy. Unity and overlay scroll bars are crass. The applications like Firefox don't have overlay scroll bars, so we're caught with two flavours of scrollbar and a Unity interface that looks like something out of Tellytubbies.

That's why I opted for LMDE. It's fast and it looks good. Easy root access is another plus for an intermediate Linux user.

My new desktop with LMDF (LinuxMint-Debian-Fluxbox)

LMDX (Xfce) upgraded with the mint-debian-testing 'incoming repros ... and the Fluxbox-1.3.1 Window Manager added. :D

All colourized and themed for Fluxbox and Conky. Found the wallpaper on DeviantART.com
