Text/alternate installer full encryption?

Post by jlparsons »

tl;dr - Is there an installer (text or graphic, don't mind) available or on the way for LMDE that supports full disk encryption?

Hi folks, have tried LMDE and have concluded it is the perfect OS for me (have also tried debian and ubuntu options). However, as I work with client data I consider full disk encryption an essential. I have tried a couple of workarounds like the forum tutorial on here and adding mint options onto debian but these may be some way beyond me frankly. Has anyone created an "alternate" install CD for LMDE using the debian text installer with encryption, a la ubuntu? Do you know if an official release supporting this is in the pipeline?

Regards,

James Parsons

I need this too. Not being able to install to an LVM partition is a non-starter for me as well.

I would like an alternate installer too! My Linux systems are on encrypted LVM partitions (except LMDE :( ).

Also I think one can install plain Debian testing and then add LMDE's repositories.

Probably the easiest solution if you are starting from scratch.
