Metacity doesn't work after compiz downgrade

Hi

I have downgarded the compiz and the fusion icon doesn't launch now
and for the command metacity --replace , the command does't work properly as it doesn't exit it run in terminal without exiting and if i close this terminal i'm back to compiz

I had the same issue so I removed compiz and everything is working great

yes but others downgrade and worked for them

for me i don't care about compiz but i'm not sure that the metacity will work

You can press Alt-F2 and then run metacity --replace outside terminal. That way you don't have to keep the terminal window open.

The Compiz Fusion Icon application in the Control Center will also allow you to switch between them.

Sorry richyrich but the OP just said that Fusion Icon did not work anymore.

window manger error :unable to open X display
