I think it would be a great idea. So does one of the testers: http://community.linuxmint.com/iso/view/76

Re: Linux Mint LMDE KDE Edition Would be great!
this would be great LMDE + the new update packs + KDE = winner
Re: Linux Mint LMDE KDE Edition Would be great!
Ubuntu-based LM plus fixed Compiz / decorator is the winner for me.
Anyway, this would be another great edition from Mint. At the moment Mint 11 KDE is in development; when all Mint 11's are ready they might develop a next Debian-based edition.

Plus a great forum where you can ask help if you don't know which choice is the best.

Hi to all!
I'm a kubuntu user and I would like to move to a rolling distro, so I would like to know if there is any plan for a Linux Mint LMDE KDE edition or if installing Linux Mint LMDE is possible to install the kde packages removing the gnome ones maintainig the stability of the distro.
Thank you,
Xwang

There is a plan for a Debian-based KDE version, but it seems to be suffering from delays. As for converting the existing LMDE to KDE, I did exactly that:Xwang wrote:Hi to all!

Hi "tdockery97"
I have been wanting to try doing just that myself.
I see in Synaptic (I am tracking Testing on this install).
I see kde-full 5:70 as a "meta-package" of KDE.
Is this all I need to install to add a KDE destop option at log-in?
Thanks!!

Re: Linux Mint LMDE KDE Edition Would be great!
I installed kde-standard. That installs pretty much what you get in a normal KDE distro. The full gives you everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink, which was a little bit much for me. And it will give you the option to use either GDM or KDM to manage your login. I went all the way and then uninstalled all the major Gnome packages.GeneC wrote:Hi "tdockery97"

Yes, I checked the KDE-full.
541 New Packages to install.
622 MB will be downloaded.
That a bit MUCH.
KDE-STD:
189 New packages
212 MB to download.
I may give it a try.

Is there a way to get the oxygen gtk engine working in lmde kde?
and how can i remove all the extra left-over gnome stuff without breaking the system?

Re: Linux Mint LMDE KDE Edition Would be great!
I agree with Hoaxblades. I got a laptop with LMDE installed and I quickly installed kde-standard but I'd love to be able to use the oxygen KTK engine. I'm also going to have to look for how to dump the GNOME packages without killing KDE within a month. I had forgotten how much I hate dealing with GNOME until it was installed on my laptop.
