Hibernate not working dell inspiron 1545 (LMDE-xfce)

Postby shadogamon on Sat Jul 09, 2011 12:16 pm

I've tried re-installation and formating swap, but I still can't get the system to hibernate properly. It simply shuts down and reboots. I've gotten hibernate to work with other distros namely, Ubuntu and openSUSE so I know its not the hardware. D: where should I look?

In addition to making sure that your swap is recognized in /etc/fstab, check the file /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume to make sure that the correct UUID number for your swap partition is there.

That is strange.

What DE and kernel? Don't tell me that is LMDE ?

perhaps experiment with liquorix kernel, sometime ago some forumers reported to have similar hibernation issue and got resolved with liquorix kernel. YMMV

I'm using xfce with no customisations (other than cosmetic) with the 2.6.39-2-686-pae kernel, but it didn't work with the previous kernel either (2.6.32 i believe)
EDIT: The liquorix kernel did the trick woot! :D
