Issue with Chromium [SOLVED]

I am having some problems with Chromium since a couple of weeks and I can't figure out what is going on.

Everything used to work nicely until I installed an update for Chromium. The one before the last I think. Since then, I have been experiencing issue with the visualization of some websites. What happens is that Chromium starts visualizing the page. Then it hangs for one minute or so and finally prompts out the message: "Page(s) unresponsive".

This happens only for some websites (this one for example or http://www.linuxmint.com/), whereas everything works fine for some others. I already tried to remove and reinstall chromium but had no luck.
Finally, I have no issue at all if I use e.g. Firefox

Does anybody have a solution for this issue or, at least, an idea on why this started heppening?


I am experiencing this issue in a customized version of Mint Debian (with LXDE desktop) running on an ASUS eeePC with Intel Atom N450 CPU

You've provided your own solution: use Firefox instead.

I found the same exact issue with Chrome using GMail in desktops other then GNOME.

Solution for me, install the Flash 11 BETA and make sure Chrome is using it.

I actually posted a fix for this in the XFCE forum.

echo GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID=default >> /etc/environment

This sets the environment properly every time you perform an action (like open chromium) to GNOME.

Now I can happily use Chromium to browse this page

You've provided your own solution: use Firefox instead.

Firefox is not ideal for a netbook with 10" screen.
Chromium is a better choice in my opinion.
