Assistance and advice please.
Am re working my 13 year old Grand -daughter's "oldie" which she uses for email, Facebook, and not often enough for homework.
It has a Pentium 4, 3.0 GHz chip and 2Gigs of RAM. Have put a dual boot of Windows XP SP3 and Linux Xfce. Everything worked fine briefly with only the Linux Mint, Linux Mint (Recovery) and Windows XP as the boot choices.
Now, for unknown reasons (I'm sure I did something wrong)
I now have on the Boot choices
LinuxMint GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.39-2-686-pae
LinuxMint GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.39-2-686-pae (recovery mode)
LinuxMint GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.39-2-686
LinuxMint GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.39-2-686 (recovery mode)
Microsoft Windows XP (Home Edition (on /dev/sda1
The 3rd and 4th boot choices open Linux Mint Xfce fine and it runs OK. Ditto for the Windows XP.
How do I get rid of the top 2 (pae) choices since they open into a list of files and never get to open Xfce.
Do I need to delete and reinstall Xfce? and how may I avoid this problem in the future?
Thanks,
Dick aka tlcmd
