installing through terminal?

Post by danwoods »

Hey guys,
I'm trying to install 4.0 on a rather old toshiba laptop with very limited memory. It takes forever to boot the live disk and I was wondering; once I get to the live disk's desktop and assuming I can get to the terminal, is there a command to install from the terminal which might be less graphic intensive?

Thanks in advance :)

Hmmm... if the memory is insufficient to even load the gui, then you can likely forget about installing Mint(gnome) 'cos you'd likely not be able to run Mint at all. There's likely Mint Xfce but again, I've no idea about the system requirements: probably 256mb or higher?

If you've really limited ram(lower than 256mb), I'd recommend something else like Puppy Linux instead.

And no, I've no idea if you can install via Terminal.
