Re-installing missing dependencies

Hi there

I am running Linux Mint 10 KDE and I recently ran into a known bug with the DMZ cursor scheme where it shows as half DMZ and half oxygen cursor scheme.
In an attempt to fix this I uninstalled the package oxygen-cursor-scheme via the Linux Mint software manager and in the process the following dependencies were uninstalled aswell:
kde-window-manager
kdebase-workspace
kdebase-workspace-bin
kdebase-workspace-data

As a result I can no longer log into KDE.
I attempted to reinstall the packages via console login with "sudo apt-get install kde-window-manager kdebase-workspace kdebase-workspace-bin kdebase-workspace-data" and I got the following error:
"E: Unable to locate package kde-workspace-bin"

I am at a loss as to how to fix this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you sure you did: sudo apt-get install kde-window-manager kdebase-workspace kdebase-workspace-bin kdebase-workspace-data

Because the error you get says you tried to do: sudo apt-get install kde-window-manager kdebase-workspace kde-workspace-bin kdebase-workspace-data

There is no dependency from any of these packages either, that would pull in "kde-workspace-bin".

Yes! You are correct, I made a mistake when typing in the command. However I have a lot of dependency problems and I can't fix it using apt-get or aptitude. I am typing this via another Mint 10 KDE install on a seperate partition and I would like to know if there is any way I could get synaptic package manager working in the broken install, either from the working install or from the broken install itself.

Ok, I'm out of ideas.
Does anyone have any ideas or should I just reformat the partition and reinstall Mint?

Just reinstall the packages you can reinstall. Hopefully the missing one(s) get pulled as a dependency.

I can't reinstall anything because everything I try to install gives dependency errors and an error about opera being half installed.

I think opera is causing apt-get to quit but i'm not sure.

I tried to remove opera but I can't get rid of it.

I tried "sudo dpkg --remove opera" and got:

It's all fixed now!
I backed everything up, wiped the partition and reinstalled Mint.
