Hi LMDE Team!
LMDE, "latest" repo, everything is up to date. Don't know is it correct forum board.
By reading forum I mostly understand the reason of replacing native Google search plugin in Firefox with LMDE one. I agree to use it. But please, update your search engine to correctly understand UTF8. Example.
Open Firefox. In search bar select Google and copy/paste "москва" (Moscow in russian, without quotes) and hit enter.
The Linux Mint search page is shown with correct results.
Now click on "Maps" link at the left and top of page.
Wrong page is shown. Should be "http://maps.google.com/maps?q=%D0%BC%D0 ... 0%B2%D0%B0"
Please, correct your search engine to return charset in "redirect" page. The example of redirecting page which is the result of "http://search.linuxmint.com/search?link ... 0%B2%D0%B0" (with bold updates to works correctly):
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
<meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0;url=http://maps.google.com/maps?q=москва"></HEAD>
<BODY>
</BODY>
</HTML>
