(SOLVED) All In Wonder internal audio

Postby o2jmpr on Sat Aug 13, 2011 9:12 am

Hello all!

I'm a brand new Linux user. Getting along "ok" so far thanks to the forums, but I need just a bit of help.

I got TVTime to work using my All In Wonder x800xt, but I have no audio. Other audio works just fine since I disabled PulseAudio. For the life of me, I can't find the dongles that came with my ATI card so I can connect to my Soundblaster card. What I would like to do is just use an internal 4 pin connection between the cards, BUT.......... will Linux Mint (KDE) magically know this connection is alive???? I've read elsewhere I need the ATI MMC software to tell the All In Wonder to use the connection and that's great for Windows, but I don't know what to do in my configuration. If it is supposed to "just work", can you tell me what to set in alsamixer and Kmix?

Any Advice???

Thanks in advance!!!!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Since posting, I've changed to Gnome. My TV tuner is a daughter card with no internal sound plug, so.... I reinstalled Pulseaudio and it is now working. For some reason, I have to open my sound mixer and deselect the soundcard and then reselect it again to get audio. Afterward, it works fine as long as I don't close the sound mixer (strange). After rebooting, I have to do the same procedure again, but at least it works.
