No sound via HDMI

Postby wudidong on Tue Aug 23, 2011 5:09 pm

Hi,
i have a problem with my new graphic-card Club3d-GT240.
I connected a Samsung TV via HDMI and i can't activate sound via the HDMI-Interface.
I tried GnomePlayer and VLC and set the audio output to alsa, because this option provides HDMI in the settings only.
I enabled the "High Definition Audio Controller" in the sound preferences instead of the internal sound card.
Is there any idea what the reason could be?
thank you for your help
sorry, i forgot : i use mint 10 with gnome

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I am having a very similar problem. I am using a different nVidia card, but there is no audio, even though I have enabled HDMI audio.

Hello Wigi,

referring to this thread (it's in german)

viewtopic.php?f=64&t=79968

maybe it could help if you install gnome-alsamixer and enable IEC958 Optical Raw. I'm not sure, if it's really a solution but worth
to try it i think.
