Yes, that is correct.
Q: did you reboot after that update, and before these errors? i've seen 1 or 2 reports when MU acts a bit strange after self-updating and without a reboot
No. I hadn't. However, I have now done so now and the update completed successfully, other than that I received the following error message at the beginning
Code: Select all

GPG error: http://security.debian.org testing/updates InRelease: File /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/security.debian.org_dists_testing_updates_InRelease doesn't start with a clearsigned message

Q: in your previous post the output of inxi -r is empty
:
indeed! 'Twas the fact that the text was disappearing into the background colour. Changing my preferences all was revealed, as follows
Code: Select all
zed@systemproductname-desktop ~ $ inxi -r
Repos: Active apt sources in file: /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian main upstream import
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian testing main contrib non-free

deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org testing main non-free
