I live in Taiwan and there are no Taiwanese mirrors listed in Software Sources (I am NOT talking about apt package sources, but where they are cached). Obviously this slows things down. What can I do? PS: This is a NEW problem. I installed Mint 11 over ubuntu three months ago and did not have this problem. This is a fresh install.
I can live with it, but if anyone has a solution - THANK YOU!

You can see a list of mirrors here -> http://www.linuxmint.com/mirrors.php
While there isn't a specific Taiwanese mirror, you can at least find a mirror location closest to you.
I don't follow, you use mirrors to achieve a faster connection to 'apt package sources'. Packages are cached locally on the drive and have nothing to do with mirrors.davidonly wrote:(I am NOT talking about apt package sources, but where they are cached

The mirrors in Software Sources & proxima_centauri's website are the mirrors of the small Linux Mint repository.
I think you want a mirror for the Ubuntu repository instead: the Ubuntu repository contains some 99% of the packages.
You can go to the Others tab, and there edit Ubuntu and Recommended Updates.
The mirror addresses can be found here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archivemirrors

Re: Software sources (synaptic also)
For any Linux, you can always seek the fastest mirror, or just settle for the provided lists..
