Mint 10 Julia Update has a bug

Postby Ballie on Tue Sep 20, 2011 3:56 am

When I try to update my software packages I get an error message "The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/fttp could not be found"
When I looked at the indicated directory I notice that the file name is "ftp" and not the "fttp" that it is looking for.
I can't rename the file either.
Help.......... :?

I think there's fttp instead of ftp somewhere in the software sources. Please run this command:
Code: Select all
gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

It'll open a text editor where you can hopefully correct fttp to ftp.

Feel free to correct me if I'm trying to write in Spanish, French or German.

Don't understand ? I am a very new user and the sources list doesn't mean anything to me. What I meant to say is that the Update Manager in Control Center that gives me the error message is looking for /usr/lib/apt/methods.fttp but the file name if I look at the file system has a file named /usr/lib/apt/methods/ftp. So how do I correct this ?
