no volume control, and uses wrong sound device

Postby stripe on Mon Sep 26, 2011 8:40 pm

hi all

I am using mint11 lxde on an acer aspire 5253 laptop (with the amd C-50 2core processor)

just a couple of quick questions

1 how do I get a volume icon on the taskbar

2 where is the config file to change the default sound card as the wrong one has been chosen by the system (and help with that if it cannot be done graphically and has to be done from the command line)

cheers

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

For a volume control in lower panel, right click panel and choose Panel Preferences. Select Network Status Monitor and click Add. Select Volume Control and click Add. I vaguely recall changing sound cards once but do not remember anymore how I did it. You might investigate routine outlined in number (18) in Tuning LXDE in http://douwil7.100webspace.net/linux/mint.html.
