Compiz Downgraded - Want Back Some Functions!

I've install Mint 11 and downgraded Compiz to version 0.8.6 as it's described here:

However I'd like to use some functions that were in the newest pre-installed version of Compiz. I mean -- when I place the window near the side edge of the screen, the window takes exactly the half of the screen.

Is it possible to tweak my Compiz 0.8.6 somehow to enable this function? Or if not, maybe there are some scripts, add-ons, or apps I can use with my system to enable this functionality without Compiz?

At least not with Compiz; the version you downgraded to doesn't have this function (and if you want it, you need a higher Compiz version...).
