Unable to Find One Update

Postby enigma on Sun Oct 02, 2011 10:23 am

Hello. Using up to date LMDE with KDE included.

Got this problem. MintUpdate shows my system up to date while a broadcast message reports "There is 1 update available." Please see attached image.

I have tried all available update download sources but with the exception of about 20 - 30 xserver updates available, I can find nothing. Other places in this forum suggest not to update xserver since I am ATI loaded. The broadcast message reports one update not twenty to thirty so I don't think this is the same.

Any ideas? I cannot find anywhere where knotify (?) picks up the information.

Thanks.

Have you checked if there is an update available in synaptic-package-manager?

Thank You for the reply.

That was one that I checked quite extensively. This distro apparently (?) cancelled out the upgrade button in Synaptic so I downloaded a vanilla version from Debian. The new version with an upgrade option reported twenty plus upgrades held back (all xserver related) and no other files.

aptitude reports the same xserver updates along with deletions and offers me a solution but I quit first due to the ATI graphics.

I am hoping to find the location where knotify gets its info. I can disable the message but this is only one of the many messages that come down. My broadcast log is now full of these one update messages. There are thirty-two of them.

Afraid I don't know the answer to that. Since LMDE now uses an update pack update system, you will not see every update in mintupdate and personally I would just disable knotify.

enigma, have you checked in systemsettings > application and system notification > manage notifications (in event source you get a dropdown menu with the various apps that use knotify) please note that this is in 4.7.1, may vary in the v. you are using in LMDE
