Something happened during installation or some other dpkg process, and it didn't finish what it was doing. Run the "sudo dpkg --configure -a" in a terminal window to reset what ever went wrong. Then it should resume as normal.

The password is invisible while it is being typed. Rerun the command, type your password, and just hit enter.
