Software Manager ( Mintinstall v 7.2.7 ) used to work just fine, but not anymore:
Open Software Manager -> select app to install -> press INSTALL button -> enter password -> authenticates fine -> software manager just sits there and does nothing showing 0 ongoing actions,
as a result app is not installing at all
Synaptic is working, apt-get install ... is working as well
Policy kit is running, it's asking for password...
Tried marking Mintinstall ( 2 packages ) for re-installation from Synaptic - still does not work after re-installation
Any ideas?

Re: Software Manager ( Mintinstall ) not installing apps any
regarding the solution with polkit
my polkit is already running
Software Manager is asking for password to authenticate ...
but after entering password nothing happens, INSTALL button
disappears as if the app is installed but it's not and 0 ongoing
actions is displayed
so, I'm not sure it's the problem with my polkit ...
something else is likely the problem
I'd like to get Software Manager fixed because it's easier to explore
apps to install, there is feedback on there compared to Synaptic
anyone else ? any other solutions ?

Re: Software Manager ( Mintinstall ) not installing apps any
Well, the problem went away after I fixed the Update Manager,
my guess is the problem was a corrupt application database
that generated update manager errors, most likely the database
in Update Manager is related to Software Manager...
So if your Software Manager ( Mintlinstall ) no longer installs apps, first fix errors
in Update Manager, here is the thread with the solution:

Regards.

Re: [SOLVED] Software Manager (Mintinstall) not installing a
In terminal: sudo mintinstall
Alternatively you can open main menu from Preferences, click on Administration, rt click on Software Manager, click properties, change command line to sudo mintinstall, change Type: Application in Terminal
Then when you click on Software Manager it will automatically bring up a terminal, enter password and it opens.
Good Luck

Many thanks, I had the same issue and it was due to an update for Ministall needing to be installed from the Update Manager.
