How many workspaces have you enabled? It's possible you only have two workspaces available.

The solution might be provided in this thread, particularly @kyphi's reply
kyphi wrote:The Workspace applet is added to the panel (top or bottom according to your preference) by a right click on the panel, Add to Panel and selecting "Workspace Switcher". Then you can right click on the workspace applet, select "Preferences" and select how many workspaces you want and if you want them in one row or two. I work with four workspaces. Don't forget to select "Lock to Panel" when done.

this is just a quick guess, but open the compiz settings manager, go to 'General Options' and on the Desktop size tab, check that the settings are correct.

Correct should be whatever you want them to be lol,

change the first setting 'Horizontal Virtual Size' from 2 to 4 then see if your cube is a cube

I hope this isn't seen as hijacking this thread, but is it possible to get to six sides to the cube? I have 6 workspaces set in in two rows and my "Desktop Size" settings are 4,2 and 1 yet my cube only rotates around the horizontal axis giving me access to only four workspaces. Is there another configuration or setting I need to change to get it to rotate vertically also? Or isn't this possible?
