Cannot connect with Edimax EW-7108PCg LMDE 3.0 Kernel

This is baffling as it connected out of the box when I was using Ubuntu and the live disk connected with no problems. After install I did not test prior to install 3.0 Kernel and this is the last piece of the puzzle to be complete in the change.

I enter the password and it will not connect in LMDE. Do I need to reinstall the RT61 Driver from Ralink?

I found that I was NOT connected with the Live DVD. Also Ubuntu 11.04 did NOT connect.
After much google search - removed gnome-network-manager and installed wicd.

Blacklisted some of the rt2561 drivers per launchpad bug #549801*

Seems to be solved for connection, but not a solution on WHY gnome-network-manager would not connect.

Perhaps another day to work on it, a solution may be found.
