[LXDE] Possible to compose characters like on OS X?

Post by starkruzr »

This is the one feature I miss from OS X -- being able to have that special character map accessed by holding "alt" and pressing keys. Is there a similar feature available on Mint? I'm running the LXDE flavor, but I don't know where this sort of functionality lives -- in the DE, in a keyboard driver, or what.

Hi, could you be more specific? What character map? What is it you are missing? Is this a laptop or a full keyboard?

Maybe something useful for you here: http://flukylogs.blogspot.com/2010/03/lxde.html . The command for the Character Map is gucharmap . You do not like just putting a Character Map button in the Taskbar?
