Computer needs restart if printer not switched on first

Postby andrewteal on Fri Oct 21, 2011 10:11 am

Hi!

Long version: If the printer is up and running (on the wireless network) when I boot up my Mint desktop, I have no problem at all with printing; however, if I forget, and turn the printer on after the computer, the computer doesn't 'catch up' (as it does if I forget to turn on the network :) ) and I have to restart it in order to print.

First, I assume that's wrong!
Second, how should I attempt to diagnose the error?
Third, how can I manually 'connect' to the printer short of restarting the desktop?
Lastly, if the fault is obvious :) what can I do about it?

Thanks!

Instead of restarting, why don't you log out, then log back in. That's how I fix my problems if I accidentally kill an important process or something LOL. Try it.
