I have just installed mplayer2 why?
mplayer / vlc has trouble playing mkv video encoded in 10bit. I really think Mint should ditch mplayer and use mplayer2 as its default player.
Here's my problem:
I don't see a mplayer2 icon under multimedia section of the menu nor do I see it when I right click a file.
any help will be appreciated

Re: no Mplayer2 icon
Why not do this:
MintMenu>Preferences>Main Menu>"New Item"> That will fix half your problem; the other half would be: Yeah, those should do what you are asking.

Re: no Mplayer2 icon
thanks!
On a flip side, I just discovered I can install SMPlayer and us it as a front end for Mplayer2 simply by changing Option under Preference the Mplayer executable as "mplayer2" (w/o quotes)
