HI.I am using a computer which has win 7 and i downloaded an ISO file of Linux mint 11 which has no windows installer.next i booted it with a pen drive and when i click install i see only two options
1)install over windows and
2)something else
I don't see install along side with windows
pls help i dont want to overwrite win 7
HOW CAN I INSTALL LINUX MINT 11 WITHOUT OVERWRITING WIN 7?

This may be happening if you have more than just Windows 7 installed right now (i.e. another distribution).

In any event you will want to choose "do something else". You will be asked to define your partitions yourself. Post again if you need some help but it would be worthwhile perusing through the forums as partitioning and dual boot come up quite a lot, so the answers you need are probably already available.

You may have just one Windows, but... the company you bought your computer (laptop?) from, has "filled up" the HDD with four primary partitions. That's all your comp's Bios can handlle at start-up.
