No NetworkManager icon

Post by r3ddy »

Hi! I've got no network manager icon on the GNOME panel since I start my computer until running "sudo nm-applet". What should I do to get nm-applet working from the start?

Go to MintMenu>Preferences>Startup Applications>"Add"
Screenshot-Add Startup Program.png
That will fix it.

Then try this:

1.Open terminal and type "gksu nautilus"
2.Go to File system>etc>xdg>autostart>
3.Create a new file in this folder by right clicking>new>file
4.Edit the file with gedit (or any text editor)
5.Copy and paste the whole thing below into the blank file:

Code: Select all

[Desktop Entry]
Name=Network Manager
Comment=Control your network connections
Icon=nm-device-wireless
Exec=nm-applet --sm-disable
Terminal=false
Type=Application
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;XFCE;
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Bugzilla=GNOME
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Product=NetworkManager
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Component=general
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true
X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=nm-applet
6.Save the file by clicking on File>Save as>"nm-applet.desktop" Look at the picture below.
Screenshot-Save As….png
That should fix it, otherwise come back and I'll try something else.
